Chef Kerry Kilpin at Bistro Sixteen82 at Steenberg Wine Estate is a master of breakfasts especially her three takes on Eggs Benedict.

Eggs Benedict is something that I myself cannot perfect, but Chef Kerry has the right touch.

On the menu at the restaurant she writes: “I cook with love and my food is love,” which you can taste in her eggs Benedict.

The three choices you have are the simple Eggs Benedict with Hollandaise sauce, Eggs Royale and Mushroom Benedict.

I recommend the classic Eggs Benedict because not only is it perfectly prepared prepared but the yoke is a golden yellow and very runny.

Chef Kerry says: “The secret is just to use the freshest eggs you can.”

“And I don’t store the eggs in the refrigerator, the eggs must be room temperature.”

Many people shudder at the just the thought of a Hollandaise sauce because they’ve possibly tasted a tart, burnt sauce in the past.

This sauce is creamy and not overpowering at all, you can taste the egg and the sauce together and enjoy both flavours.

On the Eggs Royale you’ll be served smoked rainbow trout and assorted mushrooms on the Mushroom Benedict.

The prices range from R86 to R105 which is a real bargain for the great breakfast treat you’re being served.

Breakfast is served from 9am to 11am at Bistro Sixteen82.
