CAPE TOWN- South Africa's Covid-19 infections have increased by 1 160 today, bringing the total to 15 515. Fatalities in the country now stand at 264, up by three.
Health minister Zweli Mkhize said the department is encouraged by the rising number of Covid-19 recoveries which are now at 7 006.
The number of tests conducted is 460 873 with 21 314 done over the past day.
Mkhize said the department was worried about the Western Cape which is the epicentre of the Covid-19 pandemic.
"We remain concerned about the developments in the Western Cape, comprising 76 percent of the new cases from the past 24-hour cycle," he said.
