CAPE TOWN- South Africa has registered 111 Covid-19 related deaths bringing the total number of deaths to 2 102 while 106 108 infections have been recorded, an increase of 4 518 infections.
Health minister Zweli Mkhize said as of June 23, 4 000 people were in hospital for Covid-19. He said the infected people were receiving different levels of treatment.
Of the latest fatalities, 78 are from the Western Cape, 28 from the Eastern Cape, 4 from KwaZulu-Natal, and 1 from Mpumalanga. The mortality rate is at 2 percent.
The total number of recoveries is 55 045, which translates to a recovery rate of 51.9 percent.
