Picture: Supply Baby Arike

Arike Hayward was born on the December 14 last year and diagnosed with PIG (polmanary interstigiel glycogenesis) and then with ABCA3 (a disease that prevents her from being able to breathe on her own).

She has spent her life so far in hospital. The family who lived in Clanwilliams at the time traveled to Cape Town as often as possible to be with her. They have since relocated to Saldana Bay to be closer. The medical aid did not cover some of the tests that were done and Henrico and Janine had to raise the funds on their own.

They now have received the news that Arike is well enough to be sent home. This will be the first Christmas Arike will be spending home with family. She will need to have three nurses looking after her permanently and her room at home needs to be converted to accommodate her medical condition and for her medical equipment. This is a very costly venture and any donations towards bringing Arike home would be greatly appreciated.

Arike’s family is using CandystickSA crowdfunding platform to raise funding for Arike and getting her home to a fully equipped room so she could spend her first Christmas at home. Arike has a moneybox on CandystickSA and her family is hoping to raise more funds in the next few days left for Arike and hopefully reach the target of R100 000. Raising these funds is not possible without the kindness of South Africans. Let's get Arike home for Christmas, donations to be made on Candysticksa facebook page by clicking on Arike’s story, it will take you to the donation page, anything from R50 and upwards will be appreciated.
