The easing of the lockdown regulations allowed for the reopening of the tourism industry, however, restaurant managers and owners face the risk of getting arrested if they do not comply with curfew rules.
The level 2 regulations state that restaurants, bars, as well as accommodation where alcohol is permitted, have a curfew which starts at 10pm.

“We hold regular engagements with the restaurants on this. Everyone must comply with the curfew; the consequences (of non-compliance by a restaurant) will be that the manager and the owner will be arrested,” said Tourism Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane.
“Our road to recovery as a sector has begun; we will in the coming weeks consolidate inputs received on the Tourism Recovery Strategy before we submit our plan to Cabinet.
“Our intention is to start as soon as possible with the implementation of the recovery plan. We are mindful that this is critical as tourism is one of the pillars for the broader South African economic recovery and growth,” she said.
The tourism industry has been hit the hardest during the national lockdown with over 600 000 jobs under threat, which led to independent tour guides and various organisations running campaigns to help keep the sector alive.
