The trauma that comes with the Covid-19 pandemic may cause a spike in substance abuse as well as trigger relapses of recovering drug and alcohol addicts say experts.

With the lockdown, fellowship meetings can no longer continue, taking away the most vital step of recovery - support. As an alternative, organisations and rehabilitation programmes are creating online support platforms and continuing meetings via video calling platforms.

These programmes also encourage recovering addicts to continue supporting one another outside of these meetings by joining a WhatsApp group and keeping in touch.

Player.fm offers free recovery podcasts sharing inspirational stories, support and much more helping those recover during these tough times.
