Embroidery lends itself well to the floral trend - updated on dark and moody black backgrounds in its latest incarnation. This can be seen on everything from the latest wallpaper to shoes and designer handbags.

Fashion and home decor are good bedfellows with food. While for years, brides have been sharing the lace from their wedding gowns with their bakers to co-ordinate themselves with the wedding cakes, similarly, embroidery is one of the hottest decorative elements to be found on elaborate cakes and cookies.

The film industry is another driver and no doubt the phenomenal success of animated movie, Coco, and its like have surely contributed to renewed interest in Mexican heritage.
