Spring is a time for rebirth and revival. It’s nature’s way of saying: “Keep calm, and let the sunshine in.”

This season’s decor trends take inspiration from the catwalks of New York and London.

“Lifestyle trends almost always have their origins in fashion and they permeate the world of design throughout the year,” said Elize van der Berg, chief executive of of Beetroot Inc.

This year sees a resurgence of ethical and sustainable living, with international trend predictor WGSN Insights reporting a growing consensus towards responsibility and personal involvement.

So how will this translate decor-wise? On the colour front, van der Berg believes homeowners will be more inclined to go for strong, vibrant and bright or sweeter, lighter ice-cream pastels. “We’re also still seeing the growing trend of ombre neutrals with metallic accents.”

Here’s a quick pro tip: Pop your neutrals with splashes of bold red, mellow yellow, indigo blue or ultra violet. Alternatively, you could choose to tone down and create a softer space with milky mint, rose, pink or lilac.

Worthy investment: Furniturespot’s new Cohesive Roots Collection includes the Thandeka Occasional Chair.

When it come to fabrics, this season it’s all about light cottons and fringes. It seems that the macrame trend is still going strong, so invest in luxurious pieces with a contemporary twist.

But don’t go thinking changing things up means digging into your finances. Something as simple as rearranging your furniture could do wonders for the aesthetics of any room. Just reconfigure your room’s design by adjusting your furniture layout.

Beetroot Inc’s home-grown range of furniture, homeware, novelties and personal attire articulates the lighter and brighter side of beautiful living.

Alon Sachs, co-owner of Mobelli Furniture + Living, says that if your furniture is in good condition, give them an instant update with spring-themed scatter cushions.

He also advises to swap heavy rugs for freshly-polished bare floors.
