"Time to ditch the towels and the old blanket: On your period should feel just as luxurious as when you’re not on your flow." This is the thinking behind Thinx's latest product.

The Thinx Period Sex Blanket is exactly what it says it is. The family-run factory in Sri Lanka is the same company behind the period-proof underwear.

According to AdWeek, the new product is a seemingly luxurious blanket infused with the same four-layer technology as in the company’s signature underwear.

But here's its selling point: "One side of the blanket is quilted satin; when the mood strikes, you flip it over to the cotton, absorbent side," said AdWeek.

“The idea for our period sex blanket actually originated with a customer suggestion we received through our support line,” Thinx CEO Maria Molland Selby told Fast Company.

“Dismantling stigmas about menstruation and reproductive health is what Thinx is all about.”

The mind baffles. But at least it got people talking. The big question is: Would you buy it? Retailing for $369 (about R5 000), you'll have to think long and hard before answering.
