A seasoned professional in all aspects of media, including radio and television broadcasting, film and  journalism, Mehboob Bawa has worked both in the business and creative arenas for more than 28 years.

We caught up with him at the Magic 828AM studios in Cape Town and discussed his new venture.

"While I thoroughly enjoy every aspect of my career, I have a passion for the immediacy of radio. It’s a  wonderful opportunity to join Magic 828AM and get the Love Doctor back on air. The music ethos of  the station is in keeping with what I listen to and enjoy," he said.

Bawa started his professional career at the SABC presenting Topsport on TV and also worked in community radio broadcasting.

"My radio career started with  the community station The Voice of the Cape and I then moved on to P4 (now Heart FM), followed by  a nine year stint at Kfm presenting what I think is the longest running Love Songs show on radio in  Cape Town," recalls Bawa.
After KFM, Bawa joined Smile FM since inception, and left in January 2017. Bawa — who has also worked as a inspirational and  motivational speaker —  has recently joined Magic 828AM as he resident "Love Doctor"

"My show is on air on Magic 828AM from  12 – 4pm show on a Saturday afternoon and I’m hoping to grow with the station and entrench
my “Love Doctor” brand within the line-up and format," explains Bawa.

Bawa is also working on a film production with his wife.

"My wife Razia and I are producing our first feature film to be shot in 2018 and have other productions  in various stages of development," he said.
