Remember that scene from the movie Fatal Attraction where Michael Douglas finds his way into into Glen Close's bed?
Yes, we could see the outcome from a mile away, but a new study seems to shed light on why men are attracted to women who are emotionally unstable.
The German survey questioned about a thousand people on their sexual habits and the types they are more attracted to.
Lead researcher Julia Velten and her colleagues interviewed each volunteer about their sex lives, personality trait and sexual function.
The study's results were published in The Sun newspaper, and found that men whose partners had less emotional stability reported better sexual function, while lower agreeableness of a sexual partner was predictive of better sexual function in women.
They also discovered that "men who are thorough and dutiful may feel the need to satisfy their partner sexually, which may in turn lead to better sexual function of their partners", the Sun reported.
The study was published in the Journal Of Sex Research.
