Two years ago Dodge rocked the performance world when it launched two of the planet's most powerful muscle cars – the Challenger SRT Hellcat and Charger SRT Hellcat. Now the all-American brand is raising hell again with the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, its ultimate performance car.

The Hellcat versions already live up to their names with their fang-baring outputs of 527kW and 881Nm of torque – courtesy of a supercharged 6.2-litre Hemi engine.

The Challenger SRT Demon promises even more hellish performance and will presumably be powered by fire and brimstone, although to see what the car looks like and to find out just how much it's packing under the hood you'll have to wait until the car's official unveiling at the New York International Auto Show in April.

“Most cars attempt to be everything to everybody. Then there are the rare few that revel in a single objective, rendering them totally irresistible to a subculture," explains Tim Kuniskis, Head of the Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT brands for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles North America.

"The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is conceived, designed and engineered for a subculture of enthusiasts who know that a tenth is a car and a half second is your reputation."

Leading up to the New York reveal, Dodge is launching a pre-debut video teaser campaign, including a

, where fans and followers can get weekly updates, download sharable content and gradually peel away the layers of what hellishness lurks inside the SRT Demon.
