Gauteng’s oldest Wine Route celebrates its 16th year this month. The Vaal River Meander Wine Route started off with the official launch at The Vaal River Wine Expo on 22 June and continues every Saturday and Sunday, over the next 6 weeks until the 4th of August 2019.

Meandering from venue to venue along the route is a fun way to beat the winter blues as there are a variety of great wines to taste at different participating venues.

There is no entry fee, a wine tasting fee is payable at each venue you visit. Each offer a selection of different wines from different wine farms, wine lovers can taste 8 wines at R30, 12 wines at R40 and 16 different wines at R50.

At least 8 wines will be on offer to taste at every venue with some venues offering up to 16 wines.

The Wine Route is perfect for both wine connoisseurs and for those who are on the look out for a new favourite, or for those who are keen to learn more about wine in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Gauteng’s most popular winter Wine Route discerns itself from all other Wine Routes in South Africa in that it has a record number of ways in which it can be enjoyed. Explore the route by house boat, luxury river cruiser, wine route taxi, speedboat, water-taxi, tour bus or your own car - the Vaal River Meander Wine Route has more ways to get around than any other Wine Route in South Africa.
