A serum is a skincare product that is applied before moisturiser to a clean skin to allow for maximum penetration to treat specific concerns. Serums have a high concentration of active ingredients, which is what make them function differently.
The base (the part that carries the active ingredient) that has a dramatic effect on how well the active ingredient is absorbed. If the base is not formatted correctly, the active ingredient will just sit on the surface of the skin, not penetrating the skin, and will not be effective.
With winter around the corner I tried a few serums that focus on hydration and anti-ageing:
Lamelle Intensive GF Serum - R795
Lamelle Intensive GF Serum has a high concentration of growth factors and peptides that helps to accelerate firming of the skin.
Chronic exposure to ultraviolet light (which is also in fluorescent lighting) produces a miniscule solar scar in the dermis which appears as a fine wrinkle line. To heal this scar and improve the appearance of the wrinkle, growth factors are used to encourage new cell growth, which in turn improves the epidermis (outer layer of the skin that we see).
Suitable for: mature ageing skin with sun damage.
Results: After a week of using use this serum my skin felt firmer and plumper.
The Body Shop Roots of Strength - Firming Shaping Serum - R250
This intensive serum is inspired by traditional medicine and draws strongly from botanical formulas.Included in the formulation is Madagascan ginger root, Chinese ginseng root, European ruscus root and Community Trade soya oil from Brazil.
