Dressing up in weird and wonderful costumes like your favourite fantasy character or spooky zombie, is the best thing about Halloween (well besides all the candy).

The best outfit isn’t complete with the perfect makeup. Even if you just do a scary face with a simple outfit you’re already sorted.

One look at beauty blogger and makeup artist, Lisa Fortuin’s Instagram will send shivers down your spine and definitely not for sensitive viewers. From extreme blood and gore to creepy skulls, Fortuin has created a few Halloween looks to inspire you.

I chat to her about these creepy looks.

How do you come up with your Halloween looks and what looks are popular this year?

When it comes to creating Halloween makeup looks, I like to sit down and play around with makeup and different techniques. I draw inspiration from a variety of makeup looks I see on youtube and then put my own spin on it.

This year I’ve been seeing lot’s of skull makeup looks as well as popular clown looks from the movie IT.

What are your all time favourite looks?

I couldn’t possible choose a favourite makeup look of mine, but I do love the gory, bloody SFX makeup looks that I do. It’s fun to transform yourself into different makeup looks/characters.

How do horror shows like American Horror Story influence trends?

Horror movies definitely influence Halloween makeup trends, though personally I don’t actually like or watch many horror films. I just use movie set looks as inspiration for my own Halloween makeup.

We love this Lisa's sugar skull look. Here's a video on how to get the look.
