At one time or another we’ve all felt exhausted and no matter how hard we tried to hide it, fatigue was written over our faces.

Perhaps it’s time we found ways to look fresh and ready for the world.

Beauty experts such as Lorraine van der Westhuizen, a Lamelle product specialist, says the first rule to fighting tiredness is to get enough sleep and drink lots of water. But sometimes, even sleep evades us and it becomes time for damage control.

This is when we can rely on products for a quickfix.

Once dead skin cells build up on the skin’s surface, our complexions can appear dull and tired. Invest in a good exfoliating product and use it once a week.

This will help moisturisers, serums and eye creams to be absorbed in the skin a lot quicker. Rooibos exfoliators help reduce common skin disorders such as acne.

Using a hydrating moisturiser is important, especially during dry seasons when skin becomes super sensitive.

The Nikel hidris face cream hydrates the skin, hides fatigue and prevents moisture loss.

This is probably one of the most important things to do to our skins. It might be difficult when our routines are out of kilter and we just want to fall into any bed after the long day. However, leaving make-up on our skin might cause our skin to darken because of the pigment in the make-up. This is especially true when we make a habit of it. Foundation left on over a long period of time will cake and block pores, possibly leading to breakouts.

If you do fall asleep with your make-up on, make sure you cleanse your skin thoroughly and exfoliate when you wake up. Lamelle has Serra Cleansing Gel, which is a creamy gel cleanser that will hydrate while cleansing. If your skin is prone to breakouts, you might prefer Clarity Active Cleanse which will clear the pores as it cleanses.

Loading with Antioxidants

Smoking isn’t good for skin and, as the biggest organ, skin absorbs many other free radicals from other things in the environment too.

To fight free radicals and the damage they cause, up the antioxidant content of your products. When taken orally only a small amount of antioxidants reach your skin. The best and fastest way to get it into your skin is to apply it in your moisturiser or with a serum. The Lamelle Nourish range of products contain potent antioxidants and DNA-correction enzymes.

Refresh with micellar water

The new trend in beauty is micellar water, made up of tiny cleansing oil molecules that are attracted to dirt and oil. It helps to draw out impurities without drying out the skin. Micellar water also works as a make-up remover. Its three-in-one properties have made it the ideal travel and on-set beauty solution. To rejuvenate the skin, use POND’S Micellar Water which is rinse-free and will leave you feeling and looking fresh.
