Maisie Williams thinks her looks are affecting her career, and has slammed Hollywood for being "shallow" when it comes to hiring actresses.

The 20-year-old actress believes that the roles she gets offered are only available to her because of the way she looks, as well as meaning she misses out on other roles for the same reason.

She said: "It's only now I'm starting to realise the characters that are available to me because of the way I look and the characters that aren't available to me. It's a very shallow industry."

The 'Game of Thrones' star admits she never gets offers for "sexualised" movie roles, and although she is "in awe" of the actresses who do take on those roles, she believes it is time for different types of beauty to be showcased on screen.

Speaking to the Irish Times newspaper, she said: "I don't look like someone who is cast in roles that are, well, sexualised. Don't get me wrong. I'm completely in awe of Hollywood's leading ladies. I love looking at those totally jaw-droppingly beautiful women. But I think it's sad that you only get to see one type of beautiful onscreen."

For now, the brunette beauty is wrapping up filming for the final season of the hit HBO fantasy drama, which will air in 2019, and admitted she feels "nervous" about the impending finale, as she's not sure what she'll do next.

Maisie - who plays Arya Stark on the show - said previously: "I'm currently filming for the final season, which is all a bit weird. It's been my entire career.

"It's exciting now that I can do more things like this ['Early Man'] and really shape my career to things that I want to do, but it's a little bit nerve-wracking because this has been my safety blanket and safety net."
