Yes, Beyonce has bad skin days
London - We are used to seeing her with a flawless complexion. But it seems Beyonce has bad skin days just like everyone else.
Hundreds of leaked unretouched images of the 33-year-old singer have revealed she struggled with uneven and spotty skin which could not be disguised beneath a heavy layer of foundation.
The photos, taken in 2013 when she was a modelling for L’Oreal, emerged after they were leaked by fan website The Beyonce World.
They were removed after an hour but not before they prompted a severe divide in opinion from her followers.
On social media hundreds of users praised the singer, who is married to rapper Jay-Z with whom she has three-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, for being ‘normal’. But others were less kind, with Twitter and online comments including: ‘She looks like a cigarette smoker’ and: ‘She does look rough...’
The Beyonce World removed the images, claiming it did not want to start a ‘fan war’. The singer no longer represents L’Oreal.
Consultant dermatologist Dr Anjali Mahto, a spokesman for the British Skin Foundation, said: ‘The photos of Beyonce show scattered micropapules and pustules affecting the cheeks consistent with mild acne. This is a really common problem and can persist well beyond teenage years.’
Kate Hardcastle, of the campaign group Positive Image, said: ‘If Beyonce and all can show signs of being real, of being human, they can inspire an understanding that this damaging quest for perfection is just that. Please Beyonce, let’s see the real you more.’
A few days ago an unretouched photo of model Cindy Crawford appeared online showing her looking a little fleshier than in her 1990s heyday. It attracted thousands of messages calling the 48-year-old an inspiration.
