For her first solo engagement as a member of the Royal Family, she certainly cut a figure of stature.
With husband Prince Harry left at home, the Duchess of Sussex stepped out in 4.5 inch black stilettos as she visited the Royal Academy of Art in London last night.
But while Meghan, 37, looked elegant in a £2,500 (about R47000) black evening dress by her wedding gown designer Givenchy, her vertiginous heels left her walking a little gingerly as she climbed out of the car.
The £490 (about R9000) suede shoes are by one of Meghan’s favourite labels, Aquazzura. She was guest of honour at the opening of Oceania, the first major showcase of art from that part of the world to be held in the UK. The outing came a year to the day since she went public with Harry at the Invictus Games in Toronto.

Until now, Meghan has always been supported on engagements by her husband, the Queen or even her mother, Doria Ragland, who was by her side at the launch of a Grenfell Tower fundraising cookbook last week. But it was a confident solo debut for the former actress, who said the exhibition was ‘a great introduction’ to a region she and Harry will visit next month.
