The prestigious fashion film festival launched in Cape Town earlier this year, with the announcement of new presenting sponsor, liquor brand Savannah Loco, as well as the inclusion of new parameters of focus revolving around fashion and the digital society. The announcement of a new presenting sponsor, saw the end of Bokeh's four year partnership with luxury brand Mercedes-Benz.

This year's festival  "strives  to  create  a  strong  platform  for  local  and  international  fashion  and  film  designers  to  showcase  their  talents  and  be  given  the  opportunity  to  express  themselves  in an͞ "unapologetically  different͟" way", explained brand manager of Savannah Loco, Marshal Barends.

Bokeh's festival founder Adrian Lazarus explained at the launch that this year's festival will look at the five core pillars of the festival: film, fashion, music, technology and design, with the last three pillars being the latest addition to the core themes of the festival.

Lazarus also announced that the fifth run of the Bokeh film festival saw the introduction of Bokeh lifestyle and fashion television show, as well as a third edition of their fashion magazine, both of which will be launched at red-carpet events set to take place in Johannesburg and Cape Town from the 20th to the 29th of September.

Another feature to this year's film festival is the innovative emerging talent creative category, a category which honours and selects creative students and graduates to create short films with the mentoring from the Bokeh team.

Last year's festival saw over 600  film  submissions  from  58  countries, and founder Adrian Lazarus is hopeful that 2018  is  expected  to  break  further  records  with  even  more  submissions.

Among the audience at the Johannesburg leg of the launch were celebrities such as Shashi Naidoo, MTV Base VJ Kim Jayde, and businessman Maps Maponyane.
