Nigerian-American photographer Tolulope Gangbo recently shared pictures from a recent photo shoot on his Instagram page displaying the beauty of African models.

Apart from well-known popular African faces that are currently in the media - like Duckie Thot, Leomie Anderson, Khoudia Diop, Nyakim Gatwech, Nikki Perkins, Maria Borges, Naomi Campbell and Grace Bol - the representation of dark skin women in mainstream media is minimal but is growing as the phenomenal trend of 'body positive' continues to spread along with the activism from social media (like South Sudanese model and Plymouth student Anok Yai who became a model after social media users campaigned for her to get noticed by American modeling agencies).
Gangbo’s photo shoot gained momentum when Afropunk re-posted some of his pictures on their pages, calling the photo shoot a celebration of that ‘dark regal glow’ exuded by black people.
