Durban Fashion Fair brings further career options to youth

As part of their mentee programme, the Durban Fashion Fair team recently identified five aspirant makeup artists to take part in a five day master class. They will form part of the 15 strong Kryolan make-up crew for the upcoming Durban Fashion Fair which takes place at the ICC from August 23-26 and proudly presented by the eThekwini Municipality.

The five were selected from amongst a large number of youngsters who completed application forms during a career expo and backed by sponsor, Kryolan, one of the world’s largest make up companies.

The master class course involved many make up styles featuring that of natural looks, smoky eyes, fashion forward and fashion photographic looks.

 

Sindi Shangase, Convener of Durban Fashion Fair stated: “We are delighted to have Kryolan on board as a sponsor. It’s been exciting to watch the students develop their skills with the backing of such a well-respected international brand that is used by professionals and consumers worldwide”.

We are also were super thrilled with the calibre of talent that we discovered amongst the five students that we trained up this week for Durban Fashion Fair. They were all a pleasure to teach. Each student was also provided with a full Kryolan make up kit to equip them to take their careers to the next level.

 

The top five were selected from hundreds of applicants during the city business career skills programmes. They came from varied backgrounds, and had worked in the police force, as a chef, videographer and a hairdresser.
