#SABCCrowns2018 Red Fashion Report.
The best part of the Crown Gospel Awards is always the fashion.

In previous years, it's been notoriously bad. Think crushed silk, wrinkled satin, organza, taffeta and net material and if they veared too close to anything warm they would melt.

Seemingly those days are now gone - s o who rocked the red carpet this year and who should have known better?

THE GOOD

Zanele Mbokazi
Long gone are the ballgowns, it's now slinky, sleek and elegant. She wore a beautiful black sequined evening dress from Jasmine's Bridal. Simple, chic and event appropriate.

Pearl Modiadie
Pearl wore black sequins with gold tassels on the bustier. She looked like she was poured into the dress. No fit issues here. Thank goodness.

Mahalia Buchanan
We had a Studio54 flashback from Mahalia - Jade Jagger would approve. Big hair, dark lips and a black/silver sequined jumpsuit with a faux fur stole. Probably her best red carpet look.

Clement Moasa

Those shoes? Dope! Easily one of the best-dressed guys. The blazer fitted well and he looked like he cared enough to make sure he looked presentable. We need more of this.

Mmatema

You know when a designer has clearly studied the haute couture masters and made sure they perfect their craft, you get a dress like the one Mmatema wore. A beautful off-the-shoulder marsala gown. She gets red carpet and its pageantry! Look at the hand placements and how she didn't clutter her decolletage - letting the dress take all the attention. She's going to be one to watch.

Brenda Mhlongo

The Generations: The Legacy actress and Lion King alum was one of the best dressed in a blue sheer evening gown with a neoprene overskirt. She was the only one who wore a dress that had an overskirt that actually improved on the outfit.

Jessica Nkosi

Clearly ready to hit the entertainment scene again, new mom Jessica wore a gold sequined dress by Zarth Designs, with a black net cape with gold accents. She rocked it and is clearly proud of her post-baby body.

Dingaan Khumalo
Brian Temba and Dingaan Khumalo
Hugh Hefner would be so proud to see how many men are now embracing the bathrobe/kimono look. In a look that will get him noticed by style scouts, Dingaan was the best-dressed man on the night.

THE BAD

Fikile Mlomo

*sigh* How do you let your performance outfit be better than your red carpet outfit? Why do you sabotage yourself all the time? No, girl.

TK Dlamini
Thank you, next.

Brian Temba
Where were you going? Does Muvhango not have a costume/wardrobe department to help out their stars?

Abathandwa
Abathandwa
Migos wants their style back. These guys are a group so there's no need for matching outfits all the time. Couldn't they wear black pants with these shirts? Someone needs to burn these shirts.

MEH

Ayanda Ncwane
So we liked this at first, but then we started looking closely and whoa. This is a wedding gown by Orapelend Modutle. There's too much going on. While she looks amazing, because she's beautiful, the styling is just wrong. Those gigantic pearls? WHY? And all that tulle? She knew how to work the dress though and the details on the sleeves and bodice is gorgeous. We really wish she had rather saved this for a friend who is getting married.
