Supermodels Stella Maxwell and Irina Shayk have teamed up to collaborate on a celebrity-styled handbag collection.
French handbag label The Kooples reached out to Maxwell to help design their Autumn/Winter 2018/2019 collection, and when the brand asked Maxwell who she would like to work with, the young supermodel jumped at the opportunity to work with Iranian model Shayk.
“It was a match made in heaven because we have very different personalities and styles, so our designs didn’t clash,” Maxwell explained. “There was no limit to the creative possibilities – The Kooples made the whole process so easy.”
The Stella Maxwell x The Kooples range stems into Maxwell’s inner love for the edgy, rocker chic aesthetic, with the use of dark leather tones and studded accessories. For Shayk, the bag’s leather texture and its mini accessory of a compact concealed mirror attached to the bag.
“My bag is also soft enough that you can put it in your luggage and not worry about damaging it. I travel a lot – and I take a lot with me! – so that was important”, Shayk said.
The Kooples had previously collaborated with model Emily Ratajkowski in 2017 when they released the Emily by The Kooples bag.
Stella Maxwell further explained the meaning behind her collaboration with Irina Shayk and The Kooples was about “friendship, love and celebrating life”.
The Stella by the Kooples bag (R5,398) and the Irina by The Kooples bag (R5,561) will be available from The Kooples online store and their main store in the Mall of Africa from September 2018.IOL
