When Celine Dion struck that boss pose wearing that yellow suit, she proved that you can still be fabulous at 50. Over the past few years her style has gone from boring and safe to experimental and sexy.

There are young ones who aren’t brave enough nor able to pull off some of the looks she so effortless and confidently rocks with grace.

To pull off those dramatic looks one certainly needs a high level of confidence, and that high level of confidence comes with age. By the time you hit your 50's you’re comfortable in your own skin and know what works and doesn’t work for your body.

You’ve developed your own unique sense of style and not afraid to experiment. You’re allowed to be as dramatic as you want to be and not restricted to one look.

Singer Dion isn’t the only mature women who can give the youngsters lessons in “how to be effortlessly cool”.

She might be 73 years old but Helen Mirren still manages to surprise us when she steps onto the red carpet. As the face of L'Oreal as well as walking the runway for L'Oreal Spring/Summer 2018 ready-to-wear fashion collection Paris Fashion Week, she’s a fine example of ageless style and beauty.

If there’s one woman who doesn’t seem to age at all, nor her sense of style, is Angela Bassett.

Looking at Bassett one would never say that she’s 60 years old. Not only is her skin flawless but her style is just as fresh. She recently showed off her youthful body in a sheer embellished jumpsuit at the premiere of "Mission: Impossible - Fallout" in Paris.

Iris Apfel wearing her signature large black rimmed glasses.

Iris Apfel is a fashion icon of note. There isn’t another 97-year-old fashionista quite like her - known for her signature round, black-rimmed glasses, layers of big beads and necklaces as well as stacks of chunky bangles, she personifies eccentricity! At the age of 90 she developed a limited edition collection of make-up for MAC cosmetics. .

She might not always get it right but “Sex in the City” city star, Sarah Jessica Parker (53), certainly knows how to get our attention. Much like her TV star character, Carrie, she’s always had a unique sense of style.

Having mentioned all these amazing women and their incredible style, there is one thing to bear in mind when finding your inner rock star glam; just because the cool kids are wearing it doesn’t mean you should.

Of course there’s nothing wrong with keeping up with the latest trends but there’s nothing more unattractive than a mom who seems to be wearing her daughter’s clothes. We’ve all heard the expression, “mutton dressed as lamb”, don’t be that mutton.

If you need an example of how not to dress, all you need to do it check out Kris Jenner’s style who seems to be competing with her daughters.
