Today Miss South Africa Tamaryn Green proudly stepped onto a platform at a media briefing in Sandton to reveal the national costume she'll be wearing at the upcoming Miss Universe pageant.

Designed by The Costume Dept., the same company who created Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters’ outfit, the pale blue and grey feathered costume was inspired by the Blue Crane - South Africa's national bird.

With black shimmering fishnet stockings and a headpiece resembling the one worn by Natalie Portman on the movie "Black Swan", the costume has received mixed responses from social media.

An image posted by the official Miss South Africa's Twitter handle received a few negative responses.

"Please change this costume . We love you Tam but this is a huge miss."

"Seems every year its becomes worse and worse with this national costume. Pliz revisit your designing room again and start afresh before its too late"
