Celebrities, entertainers and fashion lovers gathered at Steyn City on Saturday for the luxurious Le Kap Lifestyle Fair. This was Le Kap Lifestyle Fair debut event in Johannesburg as over the years it has been held in Cape Town. Guests spent the day indulging in the perks that came with the upper living lifestyle. Good wine and champagne flowed, an array of food prepared by celebrity chefs was on offer. Festivities of the day included a show jumping display and an exquisite fashion show by South Africa’s top designers. The designer showcased included Warrick Gautier who opened the show with a gold and glittery collection, consisting of maxi and mini dresses.

Jacques LaGrange, who dressed Thembi Seete for the fair, showcased a layback cruise collection. “A lot of people think this is a couture collection but it isn’t, it’s a cruise collection. It is very lay back, it’s kind of a flat angle that you can wear with your high heels at a fancy event”, says LaGrange

The white and cream cruise collection is mostly for young women who love social events.

“And also with modern times, I mean this is for all the young girls that want to be part of the social environment but cannot afford it, so it’s kind of a cheaper collection and they can dress it down and look fabulous from day to night,” says LaGrange.

Iconic fashion duo, Quiteria & George designed a special collection specifically to showcase at the Le Kap Lifestyle Fair. Theirs was rather a soft one, made of dusty pink and turquoise.

“This collection is inspired by a soft woman. We are not necessarily showcasing for any season, but this is rather a special treat just for today’s event,”he says.

“Our couture is an expressing of a strong woman who loves to travel. She’s a African woman, a trend setter and all those nice soft things”, says George.

Gert-Johan Coetzee, who dressed the host, Bonang Matheba in a stunning cream light dress with beads and crystals, revealed his Summer 2017/2018 collection.

“This collection is inspired by dream state, really something that you could only think of, something cloudy, something light. It has some Asian influence but came back to its South African roots”, says Coetzee.

Coetzee not only dresses SA Top models but very powerful women too, and that’s what he loves most about his career.

“For me it’s all about working with people that I like. I love dressing strong powerful women, your Bonang Matheba, Minnie Dlamini, Thuli Madonsela, Jessica Nkosi. I’ve really been blessed in my career to get to work with a whole lot of really amazing women,”he says.

“I mean the Kardashians, and all the women that surround me are the reason I wake up in the morning and thread that needle and start sewing these beautiful dresses”, says Coetzee.
