The festival coincides with the end of South African horse racing’s Champions Season with many of the feature races on the day deciding the winners of the various categories at the national Equus Awards.
The Gold Cup is conceptually aligning to “POLO of Horse racing”. “P” posh, powerful. “O” out of the ordinary “L” lively and “O” organised.
A new and exciting addition to the event is an offering of private picnic sites on beautiful lawns right alongside the track getting you close up and personal with the galloping thoroughbreds thundering past.
Fully-catered packages include gourmet picnic baskets, refreshments, entry tickets to the day and complimentary betting vouchers all aligned to a stunning picnic site with full decor, bespoke palette furniture and fantastic ambiance creating a premium outdoor experience which is ideal for corporate hospitality, customer entertainment or just a fun day out with friends.
The picnic baskets will be filled to the brim with the freshest ingredients. Start with a glorious selection of Baba ganoush, coriander lemongrass pesto, hummus, sweet-pepper cream cheese, basil and cashew nut pesto, and roasted onion and garlic dip.
Move over to the charcuterie selection, BBQ pulled pork and smoked chicken served with roast sweet potato salad tossed with feta, rocket, pomegranate and a peanut and sesame dressing, a fresh green salad of cucumber, toasted coconut and red miso dressing.
Finish off with dark chocolate cake kiffsicles and cupcakes!
Another fantastic addition is a street-food market.
Serving a wide range of food from gourmet burgers, fancy waffles, gin tins and everything in between, this “vibey” and relaxed area allows for something for everyone.
Punters get a head-start on the day with a R30 complimentary betting voucher when you buy your entrance ticket. All tickets are available at Computicket and at the gate at Greyville Racecourse.
Should corporates wish to entertain in VIP private rooms with views to amaze there are also numerous individual VIP hospitality options available offering a premium hospitality experience including VIP bespoke bar facilities, complimentary bar services with top catering inside the premium-styled VIP rooms. There are private tote betting facilities and private toilet facilities.
There is more! Everyone who attends this event will have the opportunity to be a potential winner.
The prizes are out of this world. Racegoers can win a gorgeous plot of land to the value of R1 million at Blythedale Coastal Estate sponsored by the eLan Property group by completing an entry form on race day.
The winner will be the “virtual owner” of the horse which wins the eLan Gold Cup race.
