Durban - The annual strawberry fest sees hundreds of people flock to Cappeny Estates in Ballito, to explore their vast strawberry fields. The event will take place on Saturday, August 11, 2018.
This year, the event will continue with what they know best: to showcase a harvest of fresh strawberries that can be eaten as is or be a featured ingredient in a dish.
There is lots to see and do on the day, too. Live music, children's activities and fun competitions all form part of the line-up.
This coupled with a selection of hearty food, wine, beer, bubbly, gin, coffee, mocktails and ice-cream, makes for the perfect "day-cation" for the entire family.
For those who are not quite sure what to do with their fresh pickings, there will be Berry Cook demos.
The “Freshly Picked Strawberry Tasting Station” will help pair the pickings with fresh cream, chocolate and other great toppings.
Marketing executive Yoliswa Gumede promises another great addition to the festival: a bring and braai area.
“The festival has become a place for people to unwind, and enjoy the company of their friends and family. This year we will add a bring and braai area - a proudly South African activity,” she said.
Kids, under five years of age, get free entry and can only pick strawberries under paying adult supervision.
