An audio recording has been released of an Ohio woman’s panicky call to 911 saying she had a boa constrictor “stuck to” her face.

In the call to the emergency services line the woman, from Sheffield Lake, explains that she had recently rescued the snake and it had attacked her. Eventually it latched on to her nose while she was on the line to 911.

In the recording, posted by the BBC, the woman says, ““I have a boa constrictor stuck to my face.”

The incredulous call centre operator responds, “Maam, you have a what?”

“I’m outside with it. A boa constrictor stuck to my face.”

The non-plussed, yet still calm operator then replies, “Ma’am I’ve notified the amblulance.”

“Please hurry it’s got a hold of my nose,” the woman continues in increasingly hysterical tones.

The call centre operator then asks the woman if she can pry open the animal’s jaws.

“No, there’s blood everywhere.”

When emergency services arrived at the scene they were forced to cut the snake’s head off to free the woman, according to the BBC.

She was taken to hospital and her injuries were not said to be life threatening.

The Washington Post reported that the woman had brought the nearly 2m-long snake into her home along with another snake in recent days.

Sheffield Lake Fire Chief Tim Card told the Chronicle-Telegram what first responders found when they reached her.

“It was wrapped around her neck and biting her nose and wouldn’t let go,” Card said. “They had to cut its head off with a knife to get it to let go of her face.”
