ANC eThekwini councillors’ visit to Zuma’s home gets off to a slow start

The visit was organised by ANC councillors from eThekwini and was also set to draw ANC members from other parts of the province.

The delegation of councillors from the eThekwini Municipality are expected to arrive at former president Jacob Zuma’s Nkandla home by 3pm today.

By just after 2pm, just under 50 people had arrived .

ANC councillors from eThekwini organised the visit that was also set to draw ANC members from other parts of the province.

Members of the media had arrived as early as 10am, camping outside Zuma’s home.

One of the organisers, Ntando Khuzwayo, indicated that the delegation was near Eshowe and was expected to arrive at Zuma’s home by 3pm.

The ANC members, who had arrived and were believed to be from Empangeni, were met by Zuma’s son Edward Zuma.

A trading stall selling ANC regalia has also been set up for anyone looking to buy ANC items.

The Mercury reported on Tuesday that the visit was aimed at

– Getting counsel from the former president as they started their five-year terms as councillors.

– Wishing Zuma well for the festive season.

– Finding out how Zuma has been since his release from incarceration in July.
