Argument leads to murder of farmworker in KZN Midlands

A 30-year-old farm worker was stabbed to death following an argument at a farm located on Umbumbulu Road in the Eston area in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands.

DURBAN: A 30-year-old farmworker was killed following an argument at a farm in Umbumbulu Road in the Eston area, KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, at the weekend.

Provincial police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said the worker was allegedly involved in an argument with a man on the farm on Saturday at 8pm.

“The victim was stabbed in the left side of the neck and in the leg,” said Ngcobo.

He said the man was declared dead at the scene.

Shaheen Suleiman, the owner of Magma Security & Investigations, said he received information on the suspect.

“This information was followed up and Magma Security members, together with Mid-Illovu SAPS, found and arrested the suspect,” he said.

Sulaiman said the murder weapon was also recovered. The suspect, 26, was arrested at the scene and handed over to the Mid-Illovu SAPS.

A case of murder is being investigated by Mid Illovo SAPS.

The suspect is due to appear in the Richmond Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
