Call for fashion designers to apply for Durban Fashion Fair mentorship programme

DURBAN - THE eThekwini Municipality has called on emerging fashion designers to apply for the 2022 Durban Fashion Fair (DFF) mentorship programme.

The DFF mentorship programme is part of the city’s fashion development programme and is now in its 11th year.

The DFF mentorship programme gives designers an opportunity to break into the fashion industry and focuses on technical skills, business development and market access as well as providing networking opportunities.

Municipal spokesperson Msawakhe Mayisela said the applications for 2022 are now open.

Mayisela said the DFF mentorship programme will provide fashion designers with access to the market to sell their products at the city-owned DFF emporiums located at uMlazi Mega City, Midway Crossing and a few pop-up shops including at the Pavilion Shopping Centre as well as online platforms.

To apply, you need to submit the following:

• Short bio of yourself/your fashion business

• Motivation – why you should be selected for this programme

• Storyboard showcasing a clothing range you’re working on or have produced in the past 12 months

• Proof of residence and qualifications.

Applications must be submitted by no later than 3pm on March 25, to the 7th floor, Embassy Building, 199 Anton Lembede Street, Durban.
