DURBAN - Spring rainfall is expected today over some parts of KwaZulu-Natal before clearing up on Sunday, according to South African Weather Service (Saws) forecaster Ayanda Ntsele.

Nsele said the weather conditions the province was currently experiencing were normal for Spring, adding that the rainfall was actually in line with the service’s seasonal forecast for spring, which predicted above normal rainfall for September, October and November.

Describing the predicted rainfall over the province today, Ntsele said a 60% chance of rain was expected in the eastern parts of the province, otherwise 30% was expected everywhere else towards the afternoon. Rain is expected, mostly in the morning.

“On Saturday, the weather will be clear over most parts of the province, with isolated showers and rain along the north coast and interior, which will also be clearing towards the afternoon,” she said.

Sunday would be clear, she said.

Ntsele said yesterday’s temperatures would carry through into today.

“On Friday and Saturday it will still be cool to cold, but temperatures start picking up on Sunday, which is expected to be warmer,” she said.

She said on Monday another cold front was expected, with a 30% chance of isolated showers on Monday and Tuesday.
