A Cowies Hill man and his family escaped a home invasion unharmed after armed men held him up at gunpoint in the garden and then forced him back into his house last night.

Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said in a statement that the man had stepped out into the garden alone to smoke a cigarette on his Dudley Road property where the men were lying in wait at around 9.15pm.

“While he was smoking the victim suddenly felt a gun being pointed at his head. Three armed men, wearing surgical gloves and balaclavas surrounded him and forced him back into the house,” Mathios said.
