DURBAN - A man believed to be 50 years old was beaten and stabbed after three suspects broke into his home in Knoll Road in the Kenville area, north of Durban on Saturday night.

Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele, said it was alleged that the man was in bed when the suspects pounced at about 6.15pm.

Mbele said the suspects demanded cash and cellphones.

She said the suspects took three cameras, a cellphone and a television set.

“Then they stabbed him in his thigh and punched him. No firearms were produced and the suspects fled in a white Chevrolet,” she said.

The paramedics were called to attend to the complainant, she said.

Mbele said the suspects broke the basement kitchen door to gain entry into the house.

Emer-G-Med Paramedics spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said paramedics responded to the residence just after 6pm.

“Reports from the scene are that a male approximately 50 years of age suffered a stab wound when he was confronted by armed suspects during a house robbery.

“The man was treated and stabilised on scene by emergency care practitioners before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care,” said Van Reenen.
