DURBAN - A Durban driver was lucky to escape uninjured after his vehicle left the R102 roadway between Palmview and Phoenix Highway on Sunday and landed several metres down an embankment while trying to avoid hitting a pedestrian.

He said a passer-by contacted Rusa around 6.20am after he witnessed the accident.

Balram said upon arrival, Rusa members found a red Hyundai i10 approximately 50 metres down an embankment next to the south-bound lane.

“According to the driver, he avoided a pedestrian who ran across the road when he lost control of the car,” he said.
