DURBAN – Berea SAPS will host a Crime Awareness Day (CAD 2022) on June 4 at Berea Park in Musgrave to bridge the gap between local law enforcement and the community.
The day will be filled with entertainment for all ages including displays from the SAPS, Emergency Services, schools and clubs among others.
The last Crime Awareness Day was held in the area in 2016.
Community crime activist and supporter of SAPS Berea, Nicky Burke, has said as a community member, the Berea CAD 2022 is important because it brings together the various law enforcement agencies, who police the area, with the communities.
She says this will allow residents to build a better understanding and relationship with the station commander and his team.
“It gives us the community the opportunity to understand the workings of the police and to become members of the Berea CPF. It also gives us the community an opportunity to get together and work closer with the police to eradicate crime within our area,”said Burke.
Burke has encouraged residents to attend the event with their families.
The items the public can look forward to include:
- A Motorcade with all roleplayers to take place from 8am throughout the SAPS Berea Precinct.
- A street procession of all roleplayers and entertainment and motorcade participants will begin at 9am at the intersection of Essenwood Road and St Thomas Road and proceed along Essenwood Road, leading onto the Berea Park Fields in Stephen Dlamini Road.
