CAPITEC Bank is investigating an incident that took place at one of its branches in Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa in which a naked woman screams and breaks computers, among other items, at one of its branches.
A video of the incident has gone viral.
Speaking to ’The Mercury’ today, Capitec said it was baffled by the incident.
“We at Capitec are as perplexed by this matter as everyone else and we are trying to get to the bottom of it,” a spokesperson at the bank said.
The bank could not provide further information. It is also unknown at which branch the incident occurred.
In the video the woman is heard screaming as she stands naked next to a male consultant.
She then grabs something from his desk and smashes it on the floor, before doing the same to his desktop computer.
The woman then moves to another consultant’s desk and does the same, still while screaming.
Staff and customers are seen quickly exiting the bank.
A woman believed to be one of the staff is then heard asking: “Where is the security?”
The crowd gathered outside gasp as the woman continues to make her way through the bank, smashing things on the floor.
People scream “Stop it!” moments before a man with a reflector jacket, who is believed to be a security guard, enters the bank.
The guard escorts her out of the bank.
In one of the Facebook posts of the video, it is stated that the incident occurred in Strand in the Western Cape.
Commenting on the post, one woman said: “This woman is clearly mentally ill and people regard this video as a joke.
“I think it's absolutely disgusting for people to make fun of her. What if it was your mother or sister parading naked like that?
“Mental breakdowns happen every day and I’ve seen how debilitating their effects are on families. Educate yourselves before judging.”
There's someone in the video saying something to the effect that she did this at another shop first, I just wonder why she didn't go straight to capitec & confine her act to capitec if it's all about disgruntlement with capitec.
