DURBAN: Traffic is back to normal in the city according to the Durban Metro police after thousands of Nazareth Baptist Church Ebuhleni branch members marched to the Durban City Hall today.

Metro police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Parboo Sewpersad said a memorandum was handed over to the speaker of eThekwini Municipality, Weziwe Thusi, before the crowd peacefully dispersed.

The memorandum handed to the city said the march was a demonstration of their support for their ‘true’ leader Mduduzi who they refer to as ‘Unyazi Lwezulu’.

“Traffic is back to normal, the march was very peaceful. They handed the memorandum to the speaker of the eThekwini Municipality and they dispersed,” said Sewpersad.

It is unknown how many people participated in the march however from the sheer number of people seen in pictures and videos, the number is much higher than the initial estimation of over 6000 people.

The church members were dressed in their white church attire and some carried boards with the words: “Unyazi is and forever will be our Messiah.”

Some carried traditional shields and sticks while others played musical instruments as they made their way to the City Hall.
