Durban - Ugu District Municipality announced on Thursday that repairs to a major bulk water pipeline had commenced, and based on projections for the team on the site, the repairs are expected to be completed in under a week.
Ugu Mayor, Phumlile Mthiyane inspected the South Coast major bulk pipeline repairs in Isipingo on Thursday.
According to the municipality, the pipeline affects areas of Pennington, Amahlongwa, Amandawe, Scottburgh South and Central and Freeland Park.
The municipality said the pipeline repairs commenced today and includes the replacement of an 800mm diameter x 200m long steel pipe.
The fabrication and welding of pipes on site is also under way, added the municipality.
“The repairs are expected to be completed in the next five days as per the team on site. They are doing everything to facilitate the programme of works and ensure repairs are completed,” said the statement.
