Operations near Dundee, KwaZulu-Natal have netted four suspects – and five bags of dagga worth R70 000.

Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane said in a statement Nhlanhleni police in Pomeroy made the bust on Monday.

“The suspects, aged between 30 and 54, will appear in the Tugela Magistrate’s Court (on Wednesday) facing possession of dagga charges.”

He said police had been patrolling the Ilenge area when the saw a “suspicious-looking” red Toyota Tazz with four occupants along the gravel road. 

“The vehicle was stopped and searched by the members. 

Five bags full of dagga were found in the vehicle.

All four suspects were arrested and charged accordingly.”

Acting KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner Major General Bheki Langa commended the team for their outstanding work.

He said the area was known for the cultivation and availability of dagga.

"Police officers will put more efforts (to prevent drugs) from reaching the youth and those involved will be prosecuted."
