DURBAN - An eight-month pregnant woman was among five people injured in a crash in Greyville yesterday.

Emer-G-Med paramedics together with Durban Metro Police Search and Rescue, Ethekwini Fire and Rescue and ER24, responded to the crash on Gladys Manzi Road at the intersection with Osborne Street around 2pm yesterday.

Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said that when paramedics arrived on the scene, two light motor vehicles were found to have collided head-on causing one of the vehicles to come to a rest against a boundary fence.

“An eight-month pregnant mother-to-be was a passenger in one of the vehicles and suffered minor injuries. She was treated on scene and taken to a nearby hospital,” said Van Reenen.

He said when paramedics arrived on scene three men, aged between 20 and 30, were trying to get out of the second vehicle while a fourth was found trapped in the wreckage.

“Rescue technicians from Ethekwini Fire and Rescue Services used specialised hydraulic tools to free him. All four men were treated for moderate injuries and taken to hospital,” said Van Reenen.
