DURBAN – TWO people were killed after a bakkie crashed into the side of the N2 bridge at uMlazi earlier on today.

EMER-G-Med KZN said in a statement that reports from the scene indicated that two occupants who were seated in the back of the bakkie were ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

One person plunged off the bridge and fell onto the railway line metres below the road while the other person was found lying on the road.

“Both occupants suffered fatal injuries and were declared dead on the arrival of the paramedics,” said Emer-G-Med KZN.

Four other occupants of the vehicle including a child were found to have suffered minor injuries and were stabilised and treated on the scene.

“The cause of the accident and the events preceding it are unclear and will form the subject of SAPS investigation,” a report said.
