DURBAN: A man was robbed on his way to FNB’s Musgrave branch on Monday.

In the video, which appears to have been filmed after the robbery, a man is seen on the outside of the palisade fencing surrounding the bank, while another climbs over it.

Several shots are heard but both suspects appear to get away.

While the shots are being fired, a member of the public runs for cover.

Lee-Anne van Zyl, the spokesperson and chief executive of FNB Points of Presence, confirmed that a customer was accosted on his way to the Musgrave branch on August 16.

“The customer was not harmed physically during the incident and the police were immediately called to the scene,” she said.

Van Zyl said the bank was co-operating with the police investigation.

In light of the pending investigation, FNB was unable to provide further details, she said.

Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele said a case of robbery was opened for investigation by the Berea SAPS.

“It is alleged that yesterday at 11am in Musgrave, a male was robbed of his money by unknown suspects. Shots were fired but no injuries were sustained,” she said.

Mbele said the matter was under investigation.
