WATCH: 'Knocker gang' strikes in Phoenix

Durban - The "knocker gang", a group of men who rob unsuspecting residents as they leave banks after withdrawing large sums of money, has struck again. 

This time, they robbed a man at the Phoenix Plaza on Monday morning.

It is alleged that four men, armed with rifles robbed a business man as he got left a bank and walked towards his vehicle. 

According to sources at the scene, shots were fired as the gang fled the scene but no injuries were reported. 

At the weekend, a cellphone shop at City View was robbed. 

Marshall Security spokesperson, Kyle van Reenen, said a number of armed suspects stormed the shop at about 8am on Sunday. 

"The staff were tied up. Cellphones were taken. No one was injured," he said. 

He said in a separate incident at the Windermere Shopping Centre, a woman was robbed of her gold chain. 

Van Reenen said the assailant had a firearm and fired two shots into the air. No injuries were reported.
