Durban - Wentworth police are investigating a theft a case after a couple were caught on CCTV camera allegedly stealing from a petrol station shop.

In the video, which was shared on social media by security company PT Alarms, a man and a woman in the shop stand in one of the aisles.

The video, which is less than two minutes long, shows the man pointing to items on one of the shelves, as the woman starts picking up items from the shelf behind her. She picks up boxes and bottles and appears to put them inside the black pants she is wearing.

At one point, she drops one of the items but retrieves it.

Once the shelf is empty, the woman and man casually stroll out of the shop.

According to the alert posted on PT Alarms, the couple were seen leaving the garage in a black Opel Corsa.

Provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala confirmed that a case of theft was opened at the Wentworth SAPS.

“It is alleged by the complainant that on July 10 at 16:05, he noticed that a certain shelf at his workplace was empty. He went to view the CCTV footage and saw a male and a female stealing goods from the shelf. A case of theft was opened at Wentworth SAPS and the matter is still under investigation.”
