Water supply to several Durban South areas have been disrupted due to a technical fault.

The eThekwini Municipality said in a statement issued on Monday morning that the areas affected by the water interruption were Prospecton, Isipingo Hills, Athlone Park, Isipingo Beach, Amanzimtoti, Kwamakhutha, Folweni and Ezimbokodweni.

Industries and businesses also affected included Southgate Industrial, South African Breweries, Toyota, Galleria Mall, Arbour Town and Makro.

The municipality said the cause of the service interruption was believed to be a technical fault resulting from the malfunctioning of the pumping system.

"Technicians are working around the clock to resolve the fault. In the interim, water tankers have been dispatched to the affected areas. EThekwini Municipality’s Water and Sanitation Unit’s officials are working tirelessly to urgently resolve the issue and appeals for the public’s cooperation during this time," the municipality said.
