The Burgman 400, generally acknowledged as the daddy of all large-engined scooters, has been a favourite in its segment since its launch in 1999.
We reviewed one back in September 2001 but now, to celebrate 10 years of the model, Suzuki UK has launched a more luxurious version - the Burgman AN400ZA. The ZA is interesting but, no, Suzuki SA won't be imported any units.
The new units have the same fuel-injected 400cc single-cylinder engine, with standard features such as its 62-litre underseat "boot" with DC power socket, but add anti-lock brakes, heatable handlebar grips, large hand guards, a passenger backrest, a wood-patterned fascia, titanium coloured wheels and a smart new brown seat.
It sells in the UK for £5 400 (R72 000), and Suzuki says it's aimed at commuters who want to get to work quicker than in a car but retain some luxury and comfort too.
The standard Burgman 400 - available in SA as well as in the UK - sells for £4 710 (SA price R65 460).
