After months of speculation and spy pictures the Ducati Diavel will make its first public appearance at the Milan motorcycle show from November 2-7.
The new bike - officially codenamed Project 0803 - got its name early in the development process when the prototype was assembled and wheeled out in front of a group of Ducati engineers and technicians for the first time.
Somebody exclaimed in Bolognese dialect: "Ignurànt comm' al diavel!" (Evil, like the devil!) and, from then on, Diavel became the internal nickname for the project - and now it's official.
Ironically, that's also how Ducati's biggest selling model, the Monster, got its name in pre-production 20 years ago.
Details are scarce, but the Ducati's first power cruiser will have a 1198cc Testastretta 11° engine with selectable engine-mapping modes, antilock brakes and traction control and will weigh, according to Ducati, only 207kg dry.
